Bedford Avenue Neighborhood Improvements
Public/Institutional/Educational
Twelve blocks along Bedford Avenue between McCarren Park and Grand Street received a unique streetscape to create a new pedestrian path.
Several hundred new trees were planted to create a pattern of changing colors with the seasons of the year. The use of granite curbs, slate pavers, slate coping at tree pits, new lighting and custom bollards has made it a durable, well-articulated urban promenade.
Since the completion of this project, Bedford Avenue became the focus of a popular and flourishing artistic neighborhood in Williamsburg.
