Beyhan Karahan is a practicing architect and a teacher. As the founder of Beyhan Karahan & Associates Architects she takes the leading role and responsibility for the design of each of the firm's projects.
She is a member of AIA, US Green Building Council and served on the Architecture Planning and Design panel for the New York State Council on the Arts. Recipient of the 2008 AIA New York State Award of Excellence for large residential, AIA New York Chapter Housing Design Award in 2005, Preservation League of New York State Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation in 2002 and Special Recognition in Design Award from the Art Commission of the City of New York in 1998, her work has been exhibited at several galleries, and published in the USA and Europe.
Ms. Karahan has a Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation (1977) and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from SUNY at Stony Brook and Middle East Technical University Ankara, Turkey (1974).
