Albert R. Mann Library Addition/Furnishings
Public/Institutional/Educational
The furnishings of the 106,000-sf. interior area of the library were designed to work with the character and the finishes of the existing Art-Deco building.
A simple and modern vocabulary was used throughout, for the new custom designed study tables, lighting, display cabinets and information stands. These new features complement and co-exist with the cast aluminum and bleached wood surfaces and decorative motifs of the existing building. New study tables in the main atrium were created by re-using the oak supports of the 1940’s worktables that were saved instore for several decades. Several hundred oak study chairs were also re-finished for their adaptive re-use in the new library.
