NY Public Library: Humanities and Social Sciences Branch
Public/Institutional/Educational
A new 'invisible', 2,700sf mechanical penthouse has been designed to be placed above the 40th Street Branch of the New York Public Library.
The irreplaceable collections of the Humanities and Social Sciences in the heart of New York City will now be protected from any possible future water damage and will be served by a new museum quality mechanical system. Approximately 20,500 linear feet of rare and special collections are currently below an attic space containing out of date mechanical systems.
